Based on a previous visit to Kyoto, the surface pays homage to the culture's vivid imagination of storytelling and technological advancement. Ironically, the glaze found on the vessel appears to stop running almost immediately in its place. Inspired by Japan's Edo period vessels, the technique is only prevalent through traditional form and texture. By visually stopping this moment in time, the vessel became an instant reminder of the positive influences within my life—eventually leading to the birth of my firstborn daughter. It is a memory permanently trapped within a vessel used to tell stories, trapped in time so that it may never be forgotten.
